Biography

P. Tabor Burke
Founder of Allergy Friendly Foods

P. Tabor Burke is Founder of Allergy Friendly Foods which she founded in early 2005 with the mission of making great-tasting, convenient, all-natural, allergy-friendly and gluten-free foods. The company currently owns and markets one brand: Allergaroo®, the country's only allergy-friendly, gluten-free brand of delicious, convenient, ready-made dishes: Spaghetti, Chili Mac and Spyglass Noodles. The brand launched nationally in March 2009.

After receiving her law degree from Washington University School of Law in May 1994 -- having graduated in the top 15 percent of her class -- Tabor put her degree to work at St. Louis-based The May Department Stores Company, where she served as Senior Counsel until May 2006.

Tabor and her husband soon started a family, and at early ages, their daughter and son were diagnosed with milk, soy, egg, peanut and tree nut allergies.

Upon learning of her children's diagnoses, Tabor did what most parents do -- she quickly became an expert on food allergies. She plunged head first into research to understand the magnitude of food allergies and figure out how to cope.

Timing it perfectly between lunchtime and naps, Burke trekked to the grocery store with the goal of finding foods her children could eat safely -- only to return home empty-handed. She had better luck and found a few items at natural food stores, only to learn that what they made up in safety, they lacked in good taste.

Unsatisfied with the fact that as a working mother she was spending the majority of her free time cooking safe foods for her kids rather than spending quality time with them, Tabor decided to take action. Her research taught her that by creating ready-made, allergy-friendly and gluten-free dishes, she could serve the needs of not only her own family, but millions of other special dieters including those with celiac disease, gluten intolerances, food allergies, food intolerances and with autism spectrum disorders.

At that point, Tabor felt it imperative to put her legal career aside and founded Allergy Friendly Foods and the Allergaroo brand.

Today, Allergaroo products can be found in more than 1,000 select grocery stores throughout the U.S. including mainstream grocery stores, independent grocery stores, super-natural and natural foods stores, and specialty online retailers. For more information, visit www.allergaroo.com.
